Southwestern Motor Transport, Inc provides transportation services across most of the U.S.A. in truckload and LTL. We also perform thru service between Mexico, Canada, and the United States with over 350 tractors.
The Challenge
Southwestern Motor Transport, Inc provides transportation services across most of the U.S.A. in truckload and LTL. They also perform thru service between Mexico, Canada, and the United States with over 350 tractors. They have been in business since 1930.
They needed the ability to provide one of their customers with RESTful API to seamlessly push data in a safe and secure way. Their Director of Technology, Robert Bernal, has been a Profound Logic customer since 2005, but had never used this particular technology before. Overall, it came down to the complexity of the project and the security a vendor like Profound Logic could provide.
The Solution
Bernal began to research his options but was not able to find someone who could manage the complexity of the project, while prioritizing security and usability. It was then that he discovered Profound Logic offered everything that he needed and had already proven to be trusted and reliable through past projects.
Profound Logic has created quite the reputation for having the best UI Modernization in the industry, in addition to all the latest application development tools. Bernal used Profound.js to code the API by hand, before Profound Logic began to offer Profound API. With Profound API he could have built it out in half the time with the drag and drop functionality, as well as have access to our visual performance measurement tools.
However, he was able to utilize Profound.js to implement RESTful API. The goal was to complete the project in four to six weeks, and Profound Logic was able to beat that. Bernal had a simple installation process, “one of the easiest installs we have ever done, and we have done a lot of them,” Bernal said. “I was confident in the usability and security of Profound’s products.”
The Results
“There are other options for RESTful API process, but we found too much complexity, cost and time to ramp up this process. Profound provided us with a much simpler installation and a smaller cost.” Bernal explained. “We are now able to implement other data processes with our out platform.”
Bernal can now start rolling out RESTful API with other vendors and customers. The functionality opens many options for other SAAS projects and tools they want to roll out. When he is talking to customers about implementation, he can do it in hours instead of weeks. Profound’s technologies were able to provide Southwestern Motor Transport with a competitive edge in the transportation industry. “It is a great fit and we were happy and impressed that we could get this project off the ground,” Bernal said. “You guys know your stuff.”
